Set up automatic payments with Safer Credit Building

Understanding your payment activity

Card Payment from a Secured Account is a transaction you may see when Safer Credit Building is on. It means your monthly balance was paid automatically using funds already in your SDA. No new money was added to your account — it is an internal payment between your SDA and your Credit Builder card.

The transaction shows as Transfer / Credit / Completed. Your Credit Builder card balance will decrease at the same time, confirming the payment went through.

If you ever need to close your Credit Builder account, contact Chime Member Services. Pay off any negative balance before you close the account — this helps protect your credit score. Closed accounts cannot be reopened.

On-time payment history can have a positive impact on your credit score. Late payment may negatively impact your credit score. Chime will report your activities to TransUnion®, Experian®, and Equifax®. Impact on your credit may vary, as credit scores are independently determined by credit bureaus based on a number of factors including the financial decisions you make with other financial services organizations.
