We offer 3 options for setting up direct deposit.
Instant setup in-app (easiest)
To set up direct deposit automatically:
- Tap Move > Set up direct deposit > Instant setup > Who pays you?
- Search for and select your employer, payroll service, gig platform, or benefits provider.
- Follow the prompts to sign in and complete setup.
Notes:
- To prevent delays or returned payments, the name on the deposit must match the name on your Chime account.
- If your employer, payroll service, gig platform, or benefits provider does not appear in the employer results, or you are unable to set up within the app, use your account and routing numbers to set up with your payroll provider or employer.
Use your employer or payroll portal
Each employer or payroll portal is a little different, but you can still set up direct deposit using your Chime account and routing numbers. Here’s a general way to do it:
- Find your Chime account and routing numbers in the app:
- Tap Move > Set up direct deposit > Account numbers.
- Log in to your employer or payroll provider portal (like ADP).
- Follow the portal’s instructions to add or update your direct deposit, and enter your Chime account information when prompted.
- Choose how much of your paycheck you want to deposit and save your changes.
- Confirm with your employer or payroll provider that everything is set up correctly.
Note: You can follow a similar process for unemployment benefits, but you’ll need to use your state’s government portal instead.
Use a direct deposit form
To set up direct deposit via form that can be given to your employer:
Chime app:
- Tap Move > Set up direct deposit > Get direct deposit form.
- Check your email for the completed direct deposit form.
- Share the form with your employer or payroll provider.
- Log in atchime.com and click Profile at the top.
- Under Account, click Direct deposit setup.
- Click Get completed form.
- Check your email for the completed direct deposit form.
- Share the form with your employer or payroll provider.
Note: If your employer or payroll provider asks for your bank’s name or address, use the information on your completed direct deposit form. Your deposits are held at a Chime partner bank (Stride Bank, N.A. or The Bancorp Bank, N.A.), and the correct bank name and address will appear on your form.
