The time it takes to resolve your dispute depends on the type of transaction and dispute involved.
Resolution Timelines
- Most disputes are resolved within 45 or 90 days.
- You’ll get updates by email throughout the process.
Temporary Credit Eligibility
You may qualify for a temporary credit while your dispute is being investigated. Visit What’s a temporary credit and how does it work?to check if you could be eligible.
- If the investigation takes more than 10 business days (or 20 business days for new accounts), we may apply a temporary credit to your account.
- We’ll let you know by email if you receive one.
After a Chargeback is Filed
- Once Chime begins the chargeback process, we can't cancel it. We recommend reaching out to the merchant directly — they may be able to reverse or cancel the charge faster. Visit What are some commonly used terms in disputes? to learn more about chargebacks.
If the merchant issues a refund or reversal:
- It can take 5–7 business days for your balance and transaction history to reflect the update.
Final Decision
When the investigation is complete, we’ll notify you by email with the final outcome of your dispute.
